I'd suggest this really isn't anything close to fire in a crowded theater
or "he has a gun" on a plane, etc.. ----- unless I'm misreading some of the story. Those situations represent speech that is nearly certain to cause immediate chaos and danger -- so it makes sense for society to punish people screwing around in any way with that kind of speech. What this kid said is absolutely vile, but it actually all seems tied to online posting from January -- not something he was shouting in someone's face now or even something he was apparently spewing generally at a current march ----- in comparison to those specifically calling for the destruction of the United States and infitada in real time. Again, I'm still not suggesting those calling for the destruction of the US should necessarily be suspended or expelled by a college and they are definitely not breaking the law with their speech, but I'm not sure why its so obvious why they are clearly immune from college judgment redarding student status, but this kid -- regardless of how disgusting his posts from 3 months prior -- should obviously be be gone or was essentially shouting "fire" in a crowded theater based on posts from a few months prior.
