a former (and potentially future) POTUS who seem interested in helping a kleptocrat reconstitute an empire we spent most of the 20th Century trying to destroy - and ultimately succeeding. It was a massive victory, and we want to give it back all of a sudden.

So strange and very disappointing. Our leaders and people have so little ambition, they're just along for the political ride at this point. I have no idea what the Russophiles see being in it for us with a Putin victory.
