Let me interrupt, Walter, for an eyewitness report from...me.

Happen to be spending my second 12 day work trip tour to St Louis right now. Having spent some time here in the last month, i will dispute your linked article.

Ive found St Louis to be clean, lots of greenspace in the downtown area, easy to get around with a pretty vibrant downtown area which is anchored by the Gateway Arch National Park and Busch Stadium, home of the Cardinals. Spent weekend time downtown over St Patricks Day weekend and last weekend, very busy on the street and in nearby bars.

There are rough areas that havent seen any investment in a long time to be sure (I drove thru a few) but most of St Louis that i saw seems to be doing well and would be a city I'd recommend visiting. A lot of Jeffersonian history surrounding this area what with the Louisiana Purchase, Lewis & Clark and such.
