Parents of MI school-shooter get 10-15 yrs
Didn't realize the shooter was still alive until reading article today. He did not testify at either parent's trial. (He already has life without parole)
Will be curious to see if/how future courts view this case as precedent. Wish there was some doubt that this will happen again, but we are where we are.
The tl;dr version: Parents were called in that AM by concerned school officials (teacher noticed disturbing writing on a worksheet). Parents said they could not take him for mental health check-up at that time. Parents did not mention that they had purchased a gun for him 4 days earlier, which was kept unsecured within the home. School sent the kid back to class. Opened fire a few hours later.
