As for your question, it would depend on what the referendum said, so you'd have to be specific on the wording. I might be able to answer your question this way, though: My belief is that most people in America favor legal abortion up to a point in a pregnancy and then would outlaw it after that, with some possible exceptions, such as threat to a mother's life. This is also my position on abortion. As for the specific number of weeks, there is no way to pin that down precisely -- it's like asking how many angels can dance on the head of a pin -- which is another reason why it should be left up to the people to decide locally based on their own preferences.

That's most people. IMO. There are others on the extremes -- some would ban abortion in all circumstances, while others would legalize it in all circumstances.
