Uber and Lyft helped to kill the taxi business in Minneapolis. When they entered the market, there were over 1,600 licensed cab drivers in Minneapolis. There are now 39.

One possible outcome is a state-backed bill that includes a fair wage, but not as steep as the Minneapolis law. Another outcome is that, if they go ahead with their threats, other businesses step into the market. Remember, Uber and Lyft didn't enter the market until 2014.
