I think back on it now and in the 60's and 70's people for the most part
WANTED these things regulated. Everything from cleaning up litter, to regulating the dumping of pollutants into lakes and rivers, to mandating fuel efficiency and emissions, to banning CFC's in spray cans and refrigerants. It was bipartisan. Nixon started the EPA by executive order and it was quickly ratified by the House and Senate.
Oh yeah, there were people who chafed at the costs; people who owned polluting businesses, of course. Some of whom embarked on a decades long effort to undo those regulations. They're still with us, embraced by the new GOP including MAGA. Except now they've convinced some Joe Sixpacks that their freedom is dependent on the polluters being able to pollute. What's the matter with Kansas??
