I - somewhat - understand the theory here, but fundamentally everything


that "has value" either really falls into categories of intrinsic value/material value, value based on future expectation of realizing revenue/creating value or in the case of something like the USD the faith and credit of the United States backing it.

Bitcoin (and other cryptos) really doesn't have any of that. The value is simply based on some sort of agreed upon value by ... the people engaged in the activity of Bitcoin. I, too, wish I bought a bunch at $100, with all that being said.
