Toeing the party line probably makes the most sense for him right now. At some point, he may need the votes of mothers (past and present) in Arlington and Fairfax and can adapt a bit. But for now, this is probably the way he should play it.

I do love the interpretation of defending the Constitution to mean basically proving unlimited "freedom" to people wishing to own guns. The twisting of that amendment continues, it is almost funny if you look at the wording. Incredibly vague, and the idea of "well regulated" is right there in print.
