Over 1,000 Covid deaths a week in the US currently


I don't have time or energy to get March stats, but the article I quickly found says 1,400 Covid deaths a week in the US as of January, 2024.

1,000+ deaths per week is the equivalent of 5 full Boeing 737 Max 9's going down with all souls every week. Of course, at Covid's peak of lethality, the US had well over 1,000 deaths per day, not per week; we all can and should rejoice in that huge improvement.

Are 50,000 to 70,000 deaths a year a pandemic? I truly don't know. But whatever you call it, it ain't over.

Folks choosing to risk Covid by not taking precautions is fine mostly. But it sure isn't so fine if one of those freedom-loving folks infects you or someone you love by not taking basic precautions to keep others safe when they themselves are sick.
