HOWEVER ... comedy movies coming out of Hollywood also do stink

I think it's more just corporatization of everything means having to clear everything by some anti-risk corporate suits. You don't wanna risk a $50-100M budget on a movie only to end up with some loons trying to "cancel" you -- easier to play it safe.
