But here's the difference...
Everyone on the right lines up and tells these voters what they want to hear. Fox News, Schlichter, etc. Anyone who says otherwise (Liz Cheney, Michael Luttig, etc) is shunned from the party and what they say is dismissed out of hand.
That may be what "it is", but it does not mean the voters are making judgements based in reality. Everyone on the right lines up to portray Trump as the victim here, including you, which makes the outcome self-fulfilling. If the GOP leaders stood up en masse and tried to convince the public that to listen to what the prosecutors are saying, you'd get a different outcome. But instead they tell them what they want to hear.
You'd get the same outcome if Trump had pulled an SCI document out of his boxes and plastered it on Truth Social. Or actively supported a mob storming the Capitol to try to keep him in power. Or if he shot somebody on 5th Avenue. It's the voters and the information ecosystem they're operating in that matters, not the facts of the situation. They will always find a way to excuse his behavior, even if a prosecution is completely justified (which these are).
