Completely based on the fraudulent testimony of a now discredited source thought to have ties to Russian intelligence.

The Trump impeachment over Russia, which I thought was a bit too eagerly pursued, was based in part on this dossier first funded by repub Trump opponents and then picked up by the Clinton campaign, and righties generally make like it was the full basis of the scandal leading to the Mueller investigation. It might be seedy oppo research, but it was not the sum total of the inquiry into Russia-Trump campaign ties. Righties regularly overstate its importance to Mueller.

It will now be the standard whattabout when Trumpies are called on their instant total commitment to this clear disinformation campaign, now supported by an indictment. First, Trumpies are exactly what they ridicule when the other side does it. Worse - they are the most committed “witch hunters”. Second, they reinvent the history of the Trump scandals re: Russia, to try to at least make themselves appear no worse.

Doesn’t seem to dawn on them that another way to say “no worse”, if you bought their propaganda, is “no better”, meaning they are at best mere hypocrites. In the most generous analysis, they get the benefit of the doubt on being exactly what they ridicule, only depending on the politics. No integrity whatsoever. They don’t apply their “standards” to themselves.
