I don’t think Russia poses a direct threat to us, but they do to our allies in Europe. If you think a destabilized Europe threatened by Russia poses no risk or cost to us, I just don’t know what to even say. This is by far the cheapest way to counteract Putin’s imperial aspirations…. Assuming you even think doing so is a good thing for the US and the world.

Not to mention the message it sends to China on Taiwan. And unlike Russia, China can pose more of a direct threat to us.
