What a crock of shit. This is exactly how anything consequential and
Controversial gets done, and that’s what repubs no longer acknowledge. You’re either a hyperpartisan fool or have no idea what’s in the bill. Reductions in parole, narrowing of asylum rules not seen in something like 60 yrs, limitations requiring border closure if encounters get to 50% of the recent surge numbers for 7 days or 8500 for 1 day.
Far righties bark that their completely partisan bill didn’t pass, but too bad, you don’t control all of govt. Far lefties are freaked out over narrowing asylum rules, increases in detentions, and prospects of extended border closures, but again, too bad, you don’t control all of govt. In a democracy, both sides give to get it done.
So, for your purely political reasons you want to squash this hard won compromise representing some of the stiffest border measures passed by Congress in decades. There’s no reason for it except Trump fears it will rob him of his favorite demagoguing tool. For political reasons you are choosing continued chaos, which, unless you think trump is winning and bringing the house and 60 senators with him, will now continue indefinitely. Opportunity lost, and it’s entirely on the repubs. Entirely.
This is straight out of the autocrat’s playbook. You dupe idiots into voting their own rights away by making them lose faith in the institutions of democracy. Like Congress. Here we have 2 cases of Congress partially functioning. The house passed bipartisan tax relief, and Grassley said out loud that the senate should squash it cuz Trump election year. Repubs are sacrificing border measures which can’t be simply ended with each new pres cuz Trump election year. I think it could be decades before another golden oppty for a solution comes along again.
Now we really can say the destruction is intentional. It’s literally intentional.
