As somebody who passed Econ 101, I realize that it's because the labor

market is undersupplied here. There are not enough native born Americans to wash dishes, paint houses or lay bricks for the wages those trades command. We absolutely need immigration to bridge that gap.

An added bonus IMO, is that the folks coming over the southern border are coming to work hard, get ahead, and provide a better life for their family. They're literally coming here for the American dream -- they're coming for what the country *is* ... not to change it. They're also overwhelmingly socially conservative and naturally distrustful of socialism, if you must bring politics into things.
