Well, first Republicans argued that the Senate was not the place to try


Trump because that's what the courts are for, then Trump's mouthpieces argued in court that the Senate is the place to try presidents, unless they're convicted by the Senate first. So all a president needs is 34 politicians in the Senate to vote no, and they're home free. Thanks Mitch.

Now Trump is even arguing that presidents have absolute immunity anywhere and everywhere all the time, during and after their presidency, and probably even before, like in the E. Jean Carrol case and his NYC fraud case, no matter what they do or when they do it, even if it involves rape.

So I guess that settles it.
