You don't think ESG is (or rather "was") driving all kinds of decisions

across corporate america? From hiring practices to business development decisions?

On the business development side just take this example - one of countless: Equinor has a market cap of $90 billion, Orsted has a market cap of $24 billion. Equinor generates 2,080 kBOE/d. Orsted generates 22 kBOE/d: 3x market cap for 100x the production. Does this seems like a rational allocation of capital?

In terms of hiring practices, this is not a GOP talking point for anybody in the HR market: the loops we have to go through to ensure that we are trying to hire DEI candidates and the pressure to then actually hirre them is a tremendous waste of time and energy. And it is crazy ineffective. My last relevant job search I had to turn down 3 honors mathmaticians because they were white males and hire some marginally successful econ major so I could check a box on our investor surveys. Now I am looking like for an exit and hoping some other ESG starved company will take her from us.

Thankfully, the market seems to be turning - helped in part by high energy prices and this kerfuffel around the Congressional Hearings. But it is a deep rot that will take a long time to unwind, if it does at all.
