...there were credible allegations that they were true and that Trump believed they were true, which is all that is required to call for an investigation. If John says X is true, and then I tell you that John said X is true, I have told the truth, and whether X is true is immaterial to my statement. We didn't know in 2020, nor do we know now, nor will we liekly ever know whether Georgia was certified correctly or instead mis-certified due to rampany illegality. That's not the point.

The point is that Trump had every right to make an argument to the chief elections official that the election was corrupted. Rafffensperger, in turn, was free to ignore it all and did, in fact, ignore it all, doing absolutely nothing to look into the allegations made and to this very day is still fighting transparency over the 2020 election results. Regardless, there is simply nothing even remotely criminal about this phone call, and that's all that matters here.
