Someone (maybe on this board) noted the transition of news as a loss


leader to a profit center as being a major contributor to the narrative, hyperbole laden news we consume. Social media unquestionably part of that picture

While I think genuine ideological divisions have widened in the last 30 years, I am sure the proliferation of "narrative news" has exacerbated the problem. Hopefully some brilliant innovation will harness the power of social media to proliferate and amplify the credible voices on both sides of debates/issues in a way that actually moves the needle. If the credible voices continue to be drowned out or silenced, I think the outcome will not be pretty. I have my doubts that we can right the ship
