Generalities, particularly in academia, do. I’m not sure how you know it isn’t. In fact I think you have to have your head in the sand to dismiss it. Fewer people are able to do that in light of current events.

The reason this is emphasized more now, and dismissed out of hand less than it was just a few months ago, is because people are wondering about the kneejerk reactions to the most barbaric attacks in Israeli history. Blaming Israel, before it even began responding. It was guilty of nothing on Oct 8. The notion that Israel is “oppressor” and Hamas is comprised of Palestinians and thus “oppressed” (in spite of their own brutal record of oppression of Palestinians) - it didn’t just spring to life spontaneously on Oct 8.

That’s the point - if you’re really pro-Palestinian, you should be protesting Hamas at least as much as Israel. Why don’t we see that, particularly on campuses? Why do they simply repeat Hamas slogans? Because Palestinians are automatically in the “oppressed” category in their simplistic worldview.
