He has little control over near-term prices (releasing supply from the strategic reserves), a little more over the long haul (maybe even for a 2nd term if he wins) with policy that makes it easier to ramp up extraction and refining. Reasonable people can debate whether we want more or less of that over the long haul, or if there are ways to allow for shorter-term supply relief.

That said, I believe I read that we set a record in 2023 for domestic production. Clearly that doesn't all go toward domestic consumption.
