A sugar high maybe but no substance in terms of real tangible things. Grievances, fears, prejudices, etc., etc., about any number of completely imaginary or overblown hot button matters of faith in the right-wing world have been used to manipulate a portion of the citizenry. It is what authoritarians do, except these aren't pledging to build autobahns or return to the past glories of the Roman Empire. All fluff.
