Prominent anti-Trump, anti-autocracy commentator I’ve read, and I think Barak Obama needs no intro. They both consider this book to be critical - which is about this concept, more discussed below under the Niall Ferguson article, of ultra focus on identity groups, uber-wokeness or post modernism as the lens for seeing everything, in short, the illiberalism creeping in from the left, particularly in academia.

Not just an agenda being imposed by the right. More something that the left will go to any lengths NOT to see. Which is a natural reaction, particularly when a group sees an existential threat from without - which it clearly does now.

If you were Jewish, and your kid were at Penn, expressing fear about letting classmates know her faith (that’s a real thing according to recent polls), you might care a little more about “what a bunch of Penn students are doing”. Which is an excellent example of dismissiveness.

It’s not zero sum. We can be concerned about that if we see problems as well as with Israel’s response in Gaza. In fact, I’d think it would be a good time for devotees of folks like MLK Jr to remind everyone that collective guilt is not a legit thing.
