It's a stupid editorial, imo, but the opinion is probably not uncommon...

The problem with "Hamaside" is trying to define Hamas. Who should be "wiped off the earth"? Only those with some kind of official role in the government? Only those proven to have been involved with authorizing and carrying out the attacks? All those who support Hamas and through their support keep it in power (that would be a majority of the people in Gaza)? If we think of Hamas as a political party, how do you wipe it off the earth?
It seems to me that the best way to think about this is to regard it as conventional state on state warfare. Gaza committed an act of war against Israel. Israel's response may be a conquest of Gaza followed by war crimes trials, a period of occupation followed by a mandated new government, etc. Of course that won't solve the problem. In the long term, demographics are against Israel.
