If I'm at a mall and a homeless person starts chanting "Jews will not
replace us!" at people walking by, I'm going to move as far away as I can because I don't in any way want to be near such a bigot.
If I'm in line at a lunch place and the person next to me starts chanting "Jews will not replace us!" I'm going to leave the line and find lunch somewhere else because I don't want to be around such bigotry.
And those are just examples of casual encounters where I wouldn't want to be anywhere near someone who spontaneously showed incredibly offensive behavior, regardless of whether I would be considered to be associating with that person/people - though of course even more so if that association might be assumed.
The Unite the Right rally was advertised using the poster below. If you showed up to the rally and didn't realize what you were getting into (somehow hadn't seen how it was advertised and were completely oblivious to the tiki-torch-blood-and-soil march the night before), but showed up and saw Nazi flags all around you and decided to stick around, you are NOT a fine person. Full stop.
