The method to the madness and dysfunction of this Congress is that those responsible get on the tube and are seen at home by the rubes. Cash flows into the PACs and reelection ensues. Challenging witnesses in the Senate chamber to a fistfight, charging the FBI about coming to instigate the 1/6/21 insurrection in white vans, and terrorists in the Congress (linked article) are only three of the most recent examples of attempts to destroy good government for personal benefit only.
These charges are crazy but that's the point really. They crazier they are, the more popular they become, in terms of riling up the peeps. It is theater with bad outcomes all around.
