I’ve said it before but will emphasize it again. I grew up with some
Religious friends I respect (and am still close friends with one from first grade). They quietly practiced their faith and emphasized action over words - volunteering in the community and donating to charitable causes. They were not violent or aggressive people and did not force their religion on anyone else. They were compassionate and accepting and did not try to control others’ life choices.
This is the type of religion I respect — not the Kayleigh McEnany/Mike Johnson/ Joel Osteen variety, which is militant and holier-than-thou. The Mike Johnsons share more in common with the Taliban than they do with my friends. Although we’ve never met, your practice of religion strikes me as similar to my friends’, based on what I read here.
I wanted to clarify that, since I post frequently about religious hypocrisy.
