The comparison in price between EV and gas leaves out both the environmental costs of gasoline and the subsidies and other costs that don't show up in the price. Additionally, I'm fairly confident that the costs they estimated for EV were chosen to be as high as possible. To rattle off a few examples of prices that get ignored:
-Estimates on the true environmental cost of the CO2 emitted from a gallon of gas are $1-2 per gallon. We never put a price on CO2 directly (my ideal preference), but we're basically doing it now by subsidizing things that don't emit.
-Roads, rails, and ports to move gas tankers are ignored even though they are analogous to the infrastructure for the grid that they account for in the EV analysis.
-Broadly speaking, global diplomacy and national defense for the oil industry. And claims of energy independence are a non-starter, because prices would sky rocket if we closed our oil market.
-And then there's the big one: oil and gas subsidies to the tune of tens of billions per year.

I would venture that when you add these things up and don't use the biggest possible values on the EV side that the costs are a lot closer to being on equal footing.
