to ramp up response as necessary. I'm sure they are exercising diplomacy where necessary. I'm glad that he isn't a trigger-happy bastard who might do something to pull US ground troops into another conflict in the Middle East or escalate a bad situation into an even worse one.

Biden referred to our current crisis as an inflection point. I think that, too. It's fairly clear that Iran and Russia have an interest in stoking chaos in the region. Hamas actions are conveniently tangential to those interests. China, Russia, and to a lesser extent Iran think that with political chaos in the United States, fomented directly by Donald Trump and his and Putin's enablers in the MAGA GOP, that all they'll have to do is shove a little harder and the US will be forced to pull back from world affairs enough to enable their interests. Which, voila, is precisely what America First is all about.
