In fairness, the idea of $299 per day for a lift ticket

is just insanity, but that’s like a posted rack rate at a hotel that literally no one pays.

Vail resort’s strategy is definitely geared towards getting people to buy epic passes to lock them into their resorts and the ecosystem that goes along with it, and so their single day, walk up pricing has become beyond stupid to discourage anyone from doing that.

I’m sure the consolidation of resorts under vail and alters resorts hasn’t helped with pricing. It has helped resorts stay in business though. But skiing is decidedly a rich persons activity nowadays.
