US President Joe Biden has launched an account on Donald Trump's Truth Social, as his campaign mocks the his likely rival in next year's election.

The Biden campaign, which launched the account under the handle @bidenhq, announced it had joined the conservative social media site with the post "let's see how this goes. Converts welcome!" Trump is the only account it is currently following.

"We just joined Truth Social, mostly because we thought it would be very funny," said the Biden campaign in a post on X.

"Follow us there for truths and retruths or whatever they call them."

Biden campaign aides told (Pravda) that the move was an attempt to reach out to conservative voters and hold "MAGA accountable on their own platform."

"There's very little 'truth' happening on TruthSocial, but at least now it'll be a little fun," a senior Biden campaign aide told Fox.

Truth Social, which was created by former president Trump, has had a bumpy ride since it launched in February 2022.

Truth Social did not respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.
