As any. Problem is, that’s not very good. I’d bet good money that if you interviewed PTJ a year ago, he’d have predicted we’d be in a recession by now. The resilience of the consumer seems to be defying the pessimists’ expectations, and I did see a compelling case from a different commentator that without layoffs on a pretty prominent scale, you won’t see the consumer pull back. And the labor market is simply too tight for that to happen.

I’m not betting that the expected recession won’t materialize (maybe at the worst time for dems), and I think the UAW strike could be a big wildcard. Economists say for every unemployed auto worker you get 5 more layed off employees up- and downstream. But, bear in mind, crystal balls don’t exist and the most eloquently stated predictions are usually wrong for the most part.
