He was pressuring them to do something they couldn't legally do.

All legal recount options had been exhausted, including Trump's right to a recount because the outcome was less than a 0.5% difference in vote totals, as well as the risk limiting audit and the hand recount.

Since the election had been certified by the Secretary of Stated and the Governor, there was no legal option in Georgia law for officials to choose to do another recount. Georgia officials couldn't just decide to do another recount - there was no legal basis to do so.

I haven't had time to read the indictment and am no lawyer, so maybe the specific act of pressuring officials to do something they couldn't legally do isn't a crime by itself (but was part of the overall conspiracy being charged as a crime)...but again, this argument that Trump was just innocently asking Georgia officials to do a recount is complete and total bullshit and relies on propagandists' misinformation by ignoring that all legal recounts had already been completed.
