Fall ‘78 was when he got here. We often used the same phone in the lounge; the law school was kind enough to put there for outgoing calls.

He would post up in there, with tons of books and papers spread out on a table: I think he was writing a book about a federal judge in Alabama or something, while doing the first year law coursework.

Seemed like a nice guy. Had a pretty hot English girlfriend IIRC.

He actually figured out the phone number and would get incoming calls on it, which impressed me.

I think, but am not positive, that was Old Dorms Rule’s class, might be off by one year either way.
