A woman barricaded herself in her car after being ID'd in a Maryland abduction case, and the cops closed down Route 1 for 36 hours (!) trying to coax her out. They brought her food, water, and cigarettes, and she posted a bunch of times on social media - even did an interview on the phone with someone in local media. All the while, people were outright demanding that the cops put a bullet in her head so they didn't have to take detours anymore.

It boggles my mind that one person can shut down a major thoroughfare for that long - especially when the cops were in communication with her. But this is still better than them killing her in cold blood (or her killing herself).
