I think Putin is a failure, but sacking generals isn't necessarily weak


I read a book (The Generals) that talked some about this. Marshall and Eisenhower were brutal about sacking poor performers during WWII. Then things became too political in future wars and poor performers (Westmoreland, Abizaid, etc) weren't properly sacked.
