Imo this gop wing that loves Putin as the current far right autocratic standard bearer.
I’m like a lot of American Jews - not always on board with Israeli policies, and I can’t tell you how many times ardent, unqualified Israel supporters have called me a self hating Jew because of that. I’m not, and Americans opposing our budget priorities for Ukraine aren’t all Putin lovers.
The ones spreading Russian propaganda, like that Russia’s really defending the world from all those Ukrainian Nazis - I think they’re definitely Puty lovers. It is interesting to see formerly traditional repubs - Reagan repubs - in that group. Imo, to them, Russia today is not the Soviet Union in the ‘80s. The Soviets were evil AOC types. The Russians are the current Great White Hope. So I think the group you’re talking about in general sees no ideological inconsistency.
