My interpretation is that he HAD BEEN a Confederate reenactor - who was

removed from his unit some three years before the bomb incident. I take that to mean he was a former reenactor whose unit booted him.

It takes a pretty broad brush to imply Confederate reenactors are terrorists. I've spoken to a lot of reenactors over the years - Confederate, Union, Revolutionary War ... - almost all are dedicated to an accurate presentation and preservation of history. They aren't trying to change history. They'll go out of their way to explain their clothes, weapons, food & cooking, perform shooting (rifle and artillery) demonstrations, etc.

It appears Mr. Drake is a deranged man.
