That distinction alone is the killer, now of course completely muted by the championship the following year. But still.

That ‘83 loss to NC St might have been the most traumatic for me. Ralph’s last game - party felt over without a natty. I couldn’t even really be happy with NC St’s win that year. But again - we got to another final four the first year post-Ralph, making that loss feel a little less bad.
