the needed degree while you teach under that license. VA and probably every state is already doing this. It's not at all uncommon when you can't fill a spot with a fully licensed and qualified candidate. The first Mrs. Hooda had to do this to switch to teaching SPED even though she had a Masters degree from Curry and was fully licensed for English education.

Secondly, to qualify, they have to have a "Passing score on a Florida subject area examination for bachelor’s level subjects", which I assume is the same test (like PRAXIS or whatever they're using in VA now) that someone with a 4 yr education degree has to pass to get their license. Which is certainly not automatic even for an Education grad. You have to pass that even if you're just teaching K-6. So no, a waitress will not likely be teaching Physics, or even Kindergartners. Unless they can pass a test some with a 4 yr Education degree struggle with.

Third, over half the positions this is looking to fill are Para or Teachers Assistant positions. Those do not require a 4 yr degree. And pay a lot less than a waitress BTW.

It looks like it's basically a Career Switcher program similar to what VA and other states already have, specifically targeted at military and former military, to address the teacher and para shortage problem. The only differences I've seen is that they allow you to just pass the test, and only require an Associates rather than a 4 yr degree, rather than having to go through an abbreviated 10 or 12 month Career Switcher program.
