The concessions (off ramps) are really part and parcel of the negotiations. Offering "off ramps" up front, especially in light of what has happened in Ukraine is the definition of weak.

Lastly, I still find it quite odd that this whole discussion of regime change, and off ramps revolves around American policy, when as you so well point out, it is the Ukrainians who must be the final arbiters. That and the talk of nuclear war only serves to cloud the real issues here and does nothing to bolster the bargaining position of Ukraine.
