We’re having to try to solve for two big problems at the same time. Problem number one is climate change and to address it competently requires shifting current fossil fuel-based production to alternative sources. Probably not all but a lot. That journey has been underway for a while and continues to pick up steam.

In the meantime we have another problem, Russia started a war with Ukraine and Russia is a major Oil producer. Their economy depends on oil sales, and we’re not buying any right now while they’re waging war. So that has to be replaced at least for the short run.

This is not hypocrisy, this is not talking out of both sides of one’s mouth, this is trying to balance two global imperatives, one hopefully short in duration, and the other existential.
