Two things of note which reveal this as yet another bit of hooey.

First of all, the WP WAS reporting on the letter AND the author of the letter is the one who misspoke. That said, the WP went to the trouble of clarifying what was a pretty insignificant misstatement, something that the media that JMHoo parrots here, would never do.

That's one of the many differences between journalism and propaganda.
