Standard to apply. Lots of people use gyms to stay fit. I’d wager even the majority of people who workout use gyms to do so (or did as of 2019). There’s lots of reasons people might prefer a gym or group classes — breadth of equipment, coaching, accountability … whatever.

There’s SEVERAL people for whom I know joining a boutique gym (or any gym at all) was a HUGE step for them, and they haven’t come back since March 2020 … and I’ve seen several put on a good bit of weight via social media. It’s a shame.

Working out isn’t just deleting calories (though it does), it encourages a healthy lifestyle and promotes good mental health as well. I know personally when I am working out regularly, I eat better — and not worse because I “earned” the burger and fries. I’m also in a much, much better place mentally and often don’t need to take anything for anxiety.
