For Christ's sake. This would be the natural result of

an extremely divided country, a rigid 2-party system, a ton of fear about changing demographics + opportunists willing to exploit the situation. Nothing more. The entire politicization of covid is a natural result of that. We have people that would rather be pissed off than happy, and a media that feeds that beast 24/7. Profit is a strong motivator.

So please stop rationalizing *anyone* in the world seeking to walk back the polio and smallpox vaccines. That is objectively stupid, and we should all be saying as much.

Perhaps there are legitimate gripes with the mask mandate at this point - I'm not up to speed on the state of play so have no idea. My general rules are that I wear n95 on long train rides and flights and throw something on if I'm entering an establishment that requires it (or requires its employees to cover their faces) - it isn't that hard.

If true that masks do nothing, the efforts should be directed at the CDC to pursue sound policy (and provide appropriate guidance). Hell, VA schools are required by law to follow that guidance

Time for everyone to grow the fuck up. Masks and CRT shouldn't be on anyone's top 20 list of issues this country needs to address. Vaccines probably should be (or should have been number 1 for a long time, probably getting less important by the day). Testing probably should be. So should inflation.
