I used to mock places like Mississippi as being backwards, but

VA is giving them a run for their money right now. We seem to be joining a race to the bottom, fighting for a less educated society.

... and it is disturbing to see the parallels to societies which have slipped into very dark places... cheered on by people on this board too.
