...close to ideal for me politically. Like you said, it's exposed how awful the Dems are at governing, and it's important for Americans to get a taste of that now and then.

At the same time, thanks to President Manchin and Vice President Sinema, the actual permanent damage the Dems have been able to inflict on the country has (so far) been fairly minimal. No Supreme Court expansion, no 51st and 52nd states, no filibuster nuke, no BBB, no HR1, etc. And Trump's awesome tax reform is still the law of the land! They couldn't prevent Slo Jo from shitting the bed in Afghanistan, but I think ultimately Biden personally takes the blame for that rather than it being a black eye for America herself. All this could change, of course, but so far, so good.

Further, as you mentioned, we've avoided 12 months of street riots across America, which surely would have followed a Trump win, and COVID is now owned lock, stock and barrel by the Dems -- talk about karma. Those are both huge wins.

Finally, while I supported him, I think putting Trump on the sidelines for awhile may end up having been for the best. If he happens to run and win again in 2024, then hopefully his four years in the desert will have given him time to reflect on some of his errors and make him a better president next time. But his sidelining has also allowed a guy like DeSantis to become more visible. That hypothetical may not have been possible were Trump still president today.
