Military, seems to have been BSing us for a decade telling us how well the Afghan army is doing. In reality, we probably should have stopped supporting them last year, while at the same time staying to help somewhat. I guess we never took the training wheels off until last week, and put them on a mountain bike trail to test their skills. "OK kiddo, go!"

Dont get me wrong, I'm happy as hell we are leaving, however, something this important, with so many variables, with SOOOOOOO much global visibility, needed a whole lot more planning, and clearly better execution.

Seems like so many other things with our government, in many ways, it just doesn't function very well as a single "operational" unit. Like the entire COVID crisis, and not having a detailed operational plan, or supplies, or a data collection methodology, etc, etc, etc despite a decade of work. We really need to find a way to do government better, and IMO, it is a smaller federal government that becomes EXCELLENT at certain limited federal things, instead of sucking at everything.
