When Cheney decided W should go to war with Iraq, Rummy came up with the
bright idea of doing it on the cheap.
The Pentagon showed up with a plan for 500,000 soldiers. (The Pentagon has plans for almost every contingency and bases troop density on formulas.)
Rummy said no, 200,000.
The Army came back with 400,000.
Rummy said no, 200,000.
The Army came back with 300,000 and Rummy gave in.
When we invaded there were not enough troops to guard the abandoned ammo dumps, so we left them unguarded.
It wasn't long before the insurgents raided the ammo dumps, figured out how to make IEDs from 155mm shells and started blowing up our soldiers.
Rummy got it all wrong and we are still paying for his mistakes.
